La Massana station is preparing to launch a 135-day winter season from November 30, 2019 with exciting new features for their clients.

For the winter season 2019-2020, Vallnord – Pal Arinsal has invested more than three million euros, improving infrastructures, the snow production system, trails and services for the client with the clear objective to directly improve your resort experience.

EMAP allocated 2.2 million euros for these improvements and the Comú of Massana made a direct contribution of 500 thousand euros, allowing the water tank located in the Caubella to be extended as well as the construction of a new water tank in the Coll de la Botella. There was also a new investment of 500 thousand euros this year for improved servicessuch as the fantastic new lockers now operated by a private company.

EMAP’s investments are aimed at improving the customer experience and for this reason, the resort has focused on producing and managing great snow. To provide a guaranteed snow season, Vallnord – Pal Arinsal has installed 32 new snow cannons, 12 of which are low pressure. These are distributed within Pal sector on the slopes of Fontroja, Corpalanca and Lower Camí as well as in Arinsal with the installation of low-pressure guns in Marrades. In total, the station already had 398 snow cannons and a lifting capacity of 1,140 m3 per hour, covering 43 of the 63 kilometres equivalent to 68% of the resort. It has also renewed the fleet of two magic carpets, now having a total of 10 machines covering 100% of the tracks.

On the slopes, Vallnord – Pal Arinsal has expanded the size of the Lower Camí Inferior. What was a very narrow track has been expanded to 12 meters wide improving the safety of skiers in this section.

At the same time, there is a new access to the Devesa track, in the Freeride area and last but not least, the Snowpark’s debut zone has been expanded and remodelled to provide a more extended and comfortable appearance, extended to 15m x 200m. Maintenance work during the summer has also meant that even with less snow, there is more skiing. The resort team have been clearing and removing stones. As for the popular “Lookouts”, three new ones have been equipped to improve customer experience and provide even better views. The lighting and improvements of the Camí de la Serra along the initial 200 meters and the final 200 meters of the route have also extended access to the Pla de la Cot restaurant at night.

To improve safety at the resort, 3 tapestries have been covered preventing them from being buried in snow and damaging the opening. This has the added benefit of improving safety by preventing slips and falls. Further safety improvements include new Type A protections with a Type C support on the Serra and Coms ski lifts.

Vallnord – Pal Arinsal currently has two medical centers with a total of 21 ski patroller staff for 63 kilometers, that is, 1 patroller for every 3 km, making it one of the safest resorts. On the slopes, Vallnord – Pal Arinsal has Mountain Skiing Circuits and snowshoes that are completely marked and only available for this purpose, to guarantee their safety and offer 100% differentiation by the type of users.

In terms of customer experience the investment made by the Comú de la Massana to the construction of a new water tank in the Coll de la Botella and the extension of the existing tank to Caubella will greatly improve the production of snow. The investment of a further 500 million euros for new strategically located heated lockers gives customers easier, more convenient options for the winter season. Continuing the provision of improved service and convenience the Fontanals parking lot has been expanded providing lots of additional parking places, and there are new ticket machines located at the Cubil chairlift.
